Marilynn has volunteered and worked in the field of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders for over 18 years, and has dedicated her life to working with people she identifies with because she has maintained sobriety for over 21 years. She continues her education regularly to ensure she can provide services for those in recovery to assist clients in obtaining long-term sobriety.
She has degrees in human sciences, is a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor certified by CCAPP, obtained certification through GORSKI-CENAPS corporation as an Advanced Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist, and is accredited by CCAPP as an International and California Certified Prevention Specialist. Marilynn’s goal is to continue to help those who want to help themselves become healthy productive individuals in society.
John started to work in the mental health field, volunteering as a Crisis Telephone Counselor at the Los Angeles Suicide Prevention Center in 1981, where he worked for 11 years. In 1986, he volunteered at a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Hollywood, CA to gain training and experience working with people suffering from addiction. During his time working in drug and alcohol treatment, he continued to improve his understanding of addiction treatment by taking classes in Substance Abuse Counseling at California State University.
John pursued his undergraduate and graduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and earned a master’s degree in clinical social work in 1996.
Since that time, John has been providing recovery-oriented groups, individual counseling and therapy, utilizing the concepts from the 12 steps of AA, and providing other counseling approaches (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic-oriented therapy, schema therapy, family systems and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
Dr. Lamport, M.D. is Board Certified in Addiction and Internal Medicine, Certified by the American Society of Addictions Medicine, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. She earned her Medical Doctorate Degree from the Moscow Medical and Stomatolical Institute and completed her Emergency Medicine Internship in Moscow, Russia.
In 1990 She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital SUNY, Downstate which is one of the nation’s leading urban medical centers serving the community of Brooklyn New York since 1860.
In addition to treating patients here at TAJ, Dr. Lamport is also affiliated with BHC Alhambra Hospital, Glendale Adventist Medical Center, and Aurora Las Encinas Hospital.
